Why is the rear wheel off the ground? Is it the motorcycle version of this?

its just on a (really nice) maintenance stand.
below is my bike on stands (very old picture btw)

OK, gotcha. By the way, what kind of bike is that? I’m a total bike noob and would call that the “Suzuki Kawasaki ninja”

the one in the top photos, MV Agusta Brutale Dragster 800RR (yea, long name)
very limited edition bike, they were only bringing in like 20-40 to the us/canada a YEAR...well, until MV shut down (very recent thing)
MY bike? Suzuki SV650. Sports touring bike. not QUITE the super-sport that the GSX-Rs or the ninjas are.
Kawasaki ninja is a totally different bike. your doing the equivalent of calling a ford mustang a Ford dodge viper.

Ugh, cringe. I’m sorry for that, they just look kind of similar.

technicall, mustangs and vipers look similar too. long hood, relativly short rear, usually crumbled up in a tree/ditch/crowd of ppl

I think the people crumple up, not the cars.

damn shame mv can't get their shit together. they make some gorgeous bikes.

yea. its funny, I think i would really consider one IF they had the dealer support and the reliabily to be used as a daily bike. but they have neither. so that 1 sale they lost right there, and countless others simply because they arent big enough. but they need the sales TO get bigger.
never ending cycle

hitting 100's of pounds of well, anything thats ever remotly solid (yes, humans are pretty solid) is going to leave a dent or two.
neither party comes out on top in that situation

Vipers at least (for the most part) have a higher price. Well... at least the new ones do.

i think i was reading an article about them on rideapart that went something along the lines of they need better financial backing to produce and develop more bikes but at the same time they can’t get it until they do just that. its a shame to see.
EDIT: the article was on motorcyclistonline and they listed a ton of complaints about the test bike that were never resolved as well.
